The CE marking is not a quality mark but can actually be considered to be a quality mark, which means that the product conforms with as many EC directives as apply to the product.
CE marking is a declaration by the manufacturer that the product meets all the appropriate provisions of the relevant legislation implementing certain "European Directives".
CE Marking is your ticket to EU market access. We have helped countless manufacturers understand and meet the requirements of relevant New Approach Directives for CE Marking.
CE Marking is indicated by means of the CE mark, which is the official symbol of CE Marking. CE Marking means the same thing throughout the European Union. Officially, the letters are not an abbreviation, but are generally taken to stand for Conformity European.
CE Marking sets no requirements, but it does establish the performance characteristics for a product. Depending on the country or type of product, minimum performance levels can be required.
CE Marking and declaration of conformity can only be issued if a harmonized technical specification exists and has been cited in the Official Journal of EU with dates of co-existence period.
CE Marking is compulsory after the co-existence period. The obligation takes effect about one year (depending on the standard) after publication of the harmonized standard or the ETAG when the conflicting national documents should be withdrawn.
The CE mark forms an inseparable part of the product, or of a component, for example by stamping or casting, the mark can be affixed at any other stage of the production phase, provided that the conformity of the product is verified as appropriate throughout the production phase.
The Directives set out how the CE Marking should appear and its specific dimensions and proportions. However, as it is not always physically possible to fix the mark onto the goods themselves, there is scope to place it on the packaging and accompanying documents such as the instructions for use or guarantee certificate, in that order of priority. In all cases, the marking should be visible, legible and indelible.
There are undoubtedly a number of products, particularly in the mechanical and electrical services field, that will simultaneously be under the scope of a number of EC Directives (e.g. the Low Voltage Directive, the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive, the Machinery Directive, the Construction Products Directive).
The CE marking is the manufacturer declaration that the product meets the requirements of the applicable EC directives
The CE marking is affixed on a product, it can bear additional markings only if they are of different significance, do not overlap with the CE marking and are not confusing and do not impair the legibility and visibility of the CE marking.
